Juan Carlos Navarro wasted no time and scored 15 of his 22 points in the first quarter to help Spain advance in the second round of the European Championship Monday, dumping host Lithuania, 91-79.
Spain used an 18-0 run early in the first quarter to turn a 6-7 deficit into a 22-7 affair and never looked back, grabbing their fourth win in as many games and clinching the top spot in the tournament's competitive Group A.
Spanish bigman Pau Gasol scored 17 points while 6-foot-10 Congo-born, naturalized Spanish forward Serge Ibaka finished with 15 points and nine big rebounds.
Lithuania was led by Jonas Valanciunas with 13 markers while Rimantas Kraukenas and Martynas Pocius added 11 points apiece.
In the other games, Poland upsets World Championship runner-ups Turkey 84-83, leaving the Hedo Turkoglu-led team in the brink of elimination.
Serbia also registered its fourth victory against Dirk Nowitzki and the German National Team, 75-64 while France, playing without injured star Tony Parker, rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Italy, 91-84.
