article imageFans disappointed as Arsenal suffers worse defeat in new season

Sunday was a depressing day for Arsenal fans across the world as the London Gunners fell 8-2 to Manchester United in a game that saw Wayne Rooney scoring thrice at Old Trafford.
The defeat is the worst for Arsenal since the start of the English Premier League this season. With 1 point from three matches, the team is just a spot off the relegation zone on the league table. Fans are not happy. They want Arsene Wenger to shop for new players to fortify the team or resign.
“Having lost their [Arsenal] engine room in the place of Fabregas and Nasri, Clichy also from the defence haven gone to Man City, we Arsenal fans knew it was going to be difficult, but, conceding 8 goals is a disgrace,” a fan in Lagos, Nigeria Erik Ekogia told Digital Journal after watching Manchester United outclass Arsenal.
“We love Wenger, but if he continues to be stubborn, not wanting to buy players, he should be sacked,” Ekogia added.
Arsene Wenger was equally disappointed with his side and admitted the team needed to be strengthened.
''It was a terrible day for us,'' the Associated Press quoted him as saying. ''It was a combination of under-strength team and weakness."
But for United manager Alex Ferguson, the Arsenal team was not as bad as people might think, saying ''they still have quality upfront.''
He however expressed satisfaction with the performance of his boys whose performance has left the team at the top of the league table.
