Today visitors at Toronto's Canadian National Expo walked up a ramp in order to write a message of sympathy for NDP leader Jack Layton, who died this week.
Jack Layton died in the early hours Monday after battling cancer.
Canadians knew that Layton was ill. After leading his party to their first ever spot as Official Opposition in the Commons he stepped down in June to fight the disease that would ultimately take his life.
Despite how frail he appeared at that press conference when his death was announced Monday many in Canada were shocked thinking if anyone could beat cancer it would be Jack.
The man who had fought for the underdog all his life will be buried after a State Funeral in Toronto on Saturday.
