article imageOp-Ed: A new type of 'back to school' Special

By Matt Harding     Aug 26, 2011 in World
I began readying myself for the new school year yesterday by packing. For me, it's a new kind of 'back to school' — I'm moving to a college campus.
Tomorrow, Saturday, August 27, I move in to my new dorm room on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Today, I'm finalizing the things I should do before moving in: getting a haircut, a new pair of shoes, and most importantly, sharing it all with Digital Journal.
I only packed a single box on Thursday. Today, I've packed clothes, bedding, and other necessities. Tomorrow morning, I'll be loading my television and mini fridge into my dad's pick-up truck.
It was quite a task, and to be quite honest, it's still not entirely done as I type this. I have quite a bit of "stuff." All of my memorabilia, mostly baseball autographs, will be staying with my parents. For now, my records and record player will be staying behind as well. As far as things I don't need go, I'm taking my Sarah Palin autographed book and some photos; not too much, just a few things to put on my computer desk.
So here I go—back to school. A new school, a new home, and a new life awaits me.
