If you live in London and are interested in local history, check out these lectures from an expert, Jonathan Oates, the Archivist for the London Borough of Ealing.
Dr Oates is not only a distinguished historian and authority on the Jacobite Risings but Borough Archivist for the London Borough of Ealing. Earlier this year he published Tracing London Ancestors, a book aimed at the intelligent lay researcher; on September 29, he is giving a talk at Ealing Central Library based on that book. Earlier, on September 1, he is giving a talk on the coats of arms of the local boroughs, and on November 10, an illustrated talk on local war memorials.
Dr Oates is also a popular crime author, and his talk the previous week, November 3, will cover three real life local murder mysteries from a previous era. Some of his books can be found here, and on Amazon.
Tickets for his lectures are £4 – bookable in advance from Ealing Library
