After visiting a skateboard park in St. Louis, Missouri last night, rapper Lil Wayne required nine stitches to close a wound above his left eye.
Wayne was quickly treated and released from the DePaul Health Center, having been accompanied by his entourage.
He later tweeted: "The Lou was good but I busted my head at the sk8park! 9stitches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Luv the people."
Earlier that evening, Wayne had been performing at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.
Wayne's new album - "Tha Carter IV" - is set to be released on August 29 - the day after Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
His earlier album - "Tha Carter III" - was the best-selling album of 2008 and the Grammy Award winner for the Best Rap Album of 2008.
