Los Angeles - Russell Armstrong, estranged husband of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Taylor Armstrong, was found dead of an apparent suicide Monday night, according to a report by
The site's said Armstong, 47, was "found hanging in his bedroom on Mulholland Drive and was pronounced dead at 8:16 PM Monday evening." The TMZ report stated "a roommate of Russell's found him and called 911 and that a suicide note had not been located."
Taylor Armstrong, 39, is a cast member of the Bravo TV reality show franchise show "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,' which premiered in 2010 and revolved around the lives of six celebrity housewives from California, their husbands and children.
Taylor and Russell's marriage problems were highlighted by the Bravo series with Russell often appearing as an outcast and a 'schmuck', distant and withdrawn from his wife and her cast-mates. He promised to be 'more engaging' in the new season which premieres Sept 5, according to a January interview with The Daily Beast.
The Armstrong's announced they filed for divorce in July with Taylor citing 'irreconcilable differences' in her divorce papers. She has publicly claimed Russell had physically and verbally abused her throughout their six year marriage.
Russell told the Bravo TV Blog, "We had a wonderful marriage and I don't want you to get the impression that Taylor and I are bitter enemies — we're not. We are very supportive of each other and love each other. I will support her as best as I can moving forward. The pressure of being in the TV spotlight was pretty overwhelming. It took our manageable problems and made them worse."
The Armstrong's are the parents of a daughter named Kennedy, who was seen on the series last season along with her parents celebrating her fourth birthday.
Russell Armstrong has spent the past two decades as an investment banker and venture capitalist, according to his website, and "has been instrumental in the development of over 200 businesses with early stage funding in excess of $2B dollars."
The couple were recently in the news after being sued for for $1.5 million for breach of contract for their involvement with a company called, in which it has been alleged they funneled monies from the corporation for their personal use.
