article imageOp-Ed: Weatherman keeps his cool after trouble with his remote control

By Christopher Bates     Aug 6, 2011 in Internet
We all know it's difficult to script live TV, especially when technology fails, but kudos to those presenters who manage to keep their cool, such as Chuck Bell - the weatherman for NBC Washington.
After Bell displayed the wrong map during a live broadcast, he was then revealed standing in the News 4 weather center, complete with several new shiny plasma screens.
Unlike other presenters - most of whom would have panicked - Bell kept his cool as he calmly walked off-screen to fix the problem.
His colleague joked that if Chuck had pushed the button again, he was afraid they may've ended up in his bedroom.
While we would like Chuck around the house to do all the manly jobs, we'd rather stay away from his bedroom.
It's worse on Fox though, as production assistants have the habit of randomly walking on-screen during live broadcasts, only to quickly scatter when they finally realise.
