article imageHalle Berry stalker handed three-year restraining order

By Christopher Bates     Aug 3, 2011 in Crime
Los Angeles - Richard A. Franco - an obsessed Halle Berry fan - has been handed a three-year restraining order after being charged with felony burglary for allegedly invading the actress's home.
Although the 27-year-old has pled not guilty to the charges issued, he must now stay 100 yards away from Berry for the next three years, or face further consequences.
Should he be found guilty, Franco could face a six-year prison sentence, while having a further seven years slapped on his restraining order.
He was arrested on July 11, after allegedly scaling a wall at Berry's Los Angeles home on three occasions.
Franco's court hearing took place on July 28, and although Berry wasn't in attendance, her court papers read: “This person has invaded and trampled upon the most fundamental sense of security I have .... I am extremely frightened. He has terrorized me and my family.
"I sensed someone behind me and turned to see the intruder standing less than a foot behind me, staring at me through the glass kitchen door. Panicking and in fear of my life, I turned my body and quickly hit the deadbolt lock on the glass door.
“I grabbed my phone and ran as fast as I could upstairs, slamming each door behind me as I ran. I got upstairs to a safe place, locked myself inside and dialed 911."
Franco is due back in court tomorrow.
