Toronto - Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has released the name of the man killed during the Caribana Parade on Saturday evening in Toronto as Kevin Murray, 30-years-old of Ajax. A post mortem was conducted on him in Toronto yesterday.
The SIU says that Murray was killed while interacting with officers from the Toronto Police Service. Witnesses have said that Murray was firing a gun into the crowd while the police were screaming at him to drop the firearm.
Two Toronto officers have been designated as subject officers by the SIU.
According to the SIU 21 witnesses have been interviewed and believe that more witnesses will come forward.
Megan Martin, 21, of Pickering, was also shot during the incident. She is recovering in hospital. Amit Boodram, 18, of Scarborough was released from hospital Sunday after a bullet grazed his head above his eye.
