Anthony Vella, 56, was arrested and charged with allegedly
making death threats against the mayor.
Police announced a Toronto man called the city's information line two weeks prior and did not directly speak with Ford.
Vella was arrested later on Thursday. Security remains high at the executive committee meeting and dozens of police officers are stationed at city hall.
The charged man is of no relation to officer Vella of Toronto Police, but the mayor did confirm part of the reason security is so tight during the marathon meeting is partly due to the investigation.
"Yes, I've had a threat," said Ford, during the conference. "I don't want to go into details because it's still under police investigation. I don't take it seriously - but you get people leaving messages."
