article imageToronto's Parkdale Food Bank asks for donations

Toronto - Imagine being hungry. That is the reality for many in Toronto. Without local food banks some families can not make it through the month.
On Saturday the Parkdale Food Bank set up tables along Roncesvalles to collect money for those in need. Those who donated were offered a juice box and danish for their help.
The Parkdale Community Food Bank could be closed next month if they can not raise enough funds. Currently the food bank must raise $10,000 in order to make it until next year.
"As it stands, the food bank could close its doors next month," said Executive Director Robert Thorpe. "This would be tragic for the hundreds of low-income families and seniors in the area who rely on the food we provide. We must ensure that the food bank can continue to operate and provide this crucial service to the community."
With little government help and an increase of need since the 2009 recession this food bank makes a difference for far to many in the community.
