By Kim I. Hartman     Jul 22, 2011 in Crime
Bridgeport - A Connecticut mother has been charged with giving beer to her 4-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter. The woman was also charged with providing cocaine to her daughter, who tested positive for the illicit substance at the hospital.
Police officers report they were notified by a neighbor that the woman, 29-year-old Juliette Dunn, and a companion Lisa Jefferson, 33, were giving beer to Dunn's young children at a playground in Success Village, reports the Connecticut Post.
Upon investigation of the incident, Bridgeport police officers reported finding an empty bottle of beer and a baby bottle containing a liquid that resembled beer and smelled like the intoxicating beverage. Witnesses told police the women "ordered the boy to chug the beer then teased him calling him an alcoholic."
The CT Post reports "the children were transported to Bridgeport Hospital where police said both the boy and girl tested positive for alcohol and the 10-month-old also had cocaine in her system. While being examined, police said the 4-year-old told a social worker he likes, "Natural Ice beer, Budweiser beer, but didn't like the taste of Dog-Bite beer."
Dunn admitted to investigating officers that the boy is giving beer each day by Jefferson.
Dunn and Jefferson were charged with two counts of risk of injury to a child and two counts of second-degree assault. They are being held in the Bridgeport Jail with a bond set at $100,000.
