article imageTiger Woods and long-time caddie Steve Williams go separate ways

By Leo Reyes     Jul 20, 2011 in Sports
Famous golfer Tiger Woods and long-lime caddie Steve Williams have finally called it quits after 12 years of impressive partnership that racked up more than 10 championship wins for the top golfer.
Woods thanked Williams for being an outstanding caddie and a friend in an announcement that appeared in his website post Wednesday.
"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it's time for a change," Woods said. "Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future."
The long-time Wood's caddie likewise issued a statement in his website saying he is disappointed to end a very successful relationship with the popular golfer at this time.
"After 13 years of loyal service needless to say this came as a shock. Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger's scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time. I have had the opportunity to work of late for Australian Adam Scott and will now caddy for him on a permanent basis."
Williams is a New Zealander and started caddying for the famous golf champion since 1999. He started caddying at age 6 and became a two-handicapper by age 13. In his website Williams said "by the age of thirteen I found myself enjoying caddying more than playing".
Woods is currently nursing an injury but is expected to play in a charity game with former Stanford teammate Notah Begay by the end of next month.
Woods has not yet confirmed his participation but he is expected to play as the event will not take place until August 31 and he will have more time to nurse his injury. Besides it won't be a competitive game as it is merely staged to raise funds for charity.
