It's the year of the M for the Emmys. On Thursday morning Joshua Jackson and Melissa McCarty announced who is on this year's ballot. Mad Men, Modern Family and Mildred Pierce all received numerous nominations.
Five of the twelve Comedy and Drama series are in the running for the first time with seven of the shows from network programming.
Mildred Pierce, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Modern Family, Saturday Night Live, Game of Thrones, 30 Rock, Glee, Downton Abbey (Masterpiece), Too Big To Fail, American Idol and The Kennedys all received 10 or more nominations.
AMC's Mad Men has won 13 times at the Emmys, it's in the nod once again for Outstanding Drama Series.
This year only two of the lead actors and actresses for a Drama Series have ever won at the Emmys. Mariska Hargitay and Julianna Margulies each have one Emmy.
Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart will be battling it out again for the prize of Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series. Stewart's 14 wins compared to Colbert's two. Also in the running are hosts Conan O'Bryan, Jimmy Fallon and Bill Maher and Saturday Night Live. SNL is the all time champ with 28 wins.
The awards show will be hosted by the top coach of mean, Glee's Jane Lynch on September 18 at NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles.
