Recording artist Marc Mysterio is happy to have settled his lawsuit with singer Brandy. It's been a busy time for the Toronto-based recording star, who has also changed his management from the Swedish Joia Records, signing with Sony Music.
Mysterio was ready to battle it out in court with Brandy, a recent contestant on the hit show Dancing With The Stars. His lawyer Laurence Clarke announced this week that Brandy and Mysterio have settled their dispute coming to a mutual agreement with confidential terms.
The case stemmed over last year's recording of the song 'Shout It Out.' Brandy is said to have been paid $10,000 to sing two 16-bar verses for the recording. While Brandy is said to have denied that claim it has come to light that there are emails and a VH1 tape that support the claim.
On July 29, 2010 $10,000 was paid according to an invoice to Brandy for the recording which was to be completed by August 6, 2010. After that payment was made, though, her manager Ryan Ramsey is accused of phoning Mysterio and backing out of the deal citing other obligations.
While Brandy is said to have tried to get a court dismissal for the case the court denied her request. The case was to go to a jury trial of August 3, 2011. Instead of dragging it out in the courtroom the two parties have now reached a settlement.
Mysterio said in an email, "I am very happy with the settlement and Brandy and I are cool now, however, the musician in me still wishes 'Shout It Out' came out with her vocals and verses on it!."
As the case wraps up Mysterio has changed his management hands from Swedish-based Joia Records to Sony Music.
"I have great respect for Jonas Sellberg & Luciano Ingrosso at Joia Records, and the faith they showed in my to pay the $10,000 last year to Brandy, however, at this point in my career, Sony Music is the right home for me and they are now handling my management in various parts of the world." wrote Mysterio.
His first single with Sony Music is called 'All Wrong' which features MTV Europe Award Winner and Platinum Artist Karl Wolf & Jamie Sparks.
