article imageComing to a theatre near you: Space Invaders

The classic video game will soon be made into a film. Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Gigi Pritzaker of Odd Lot Entertainment acquired rights to Space Invaders, although a release date has yet to be announced.
Space Invaders is coming to the big screen.
Ranked the best video game by Guinness World Records, the 1978 classic game places a lone space ship up against an army of aliens, which the ship must take on, row upon row. Their only hideaway from this shower of laser death? Seeking shelter behind scattered, disintegrating blocks.
Hollywood Reporter reports producers Lorenzo di Boneventura and Gigi Pritzker have acquired the rights to start the project.
Boneventura, who is probably most well known for remaking Transformers and G.I. Joe, faces an interesting challenge with his fellow producer : the movie for Space Invaders hasn't got a story. At least, not yet.
But as the pair searches for a writer, the plot possibilities are as vast as the universe.
