Turbo Tango, a foamy orange drink which you can spray into your mouth, arrives on UK shelves this summer - and its manufacturer expects it to be a hit with teens.
"The innovation features ‘nitro-fuelled’ aerosol technology, to deliver a foamy blast of orange and a totally new drinking experience," states its maker, Britivic.
The company has licensed rights to the patented technology that creates the foamy drink, which will be targeted at late teens.
“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Britvic," said marketing director Simon Stewart. "Our innovation team’s pioneering spirit, scientific know-how and technical expertise enables us to create drinks that are genuinely different and excite consumers. With Turbo Tango, we’ve gone one step further and come up with a world first that really is ‘soft drink meets squirty cream."
He added that teens had told them they found the category ‘samey’ and were ready for something different.
"The reaction to Turbo Tango has been amazing from consumers and customers – we’ve certainly never had teens trying to buy a pack from us in research before.”
The Daily Mail reported that the label advises people to, "Hold upright and squirt in your mouth (and nowhere else)."
Slash Gear noted that Britvic has been quiet about the environmental impact of the drink's packaging, which is more wasteful than an average bottle or can.
Turbo Tango, priced at £1.60 (about $2.50) by a sponsorship deal with the film ‘The Inbetweeners.'
