article imageHenry Rollins makes a fool out of boot hurler

By Abigail Prendergast     Jun 27, 2011 in Entertainment
New York - Former Black Flag front man Henry Rollins was interviewing members of Dinosaur Jr recently in New York when an audience member threw a boot on stage. Rollins decided to retaliate with a few harsh words directed the boot thrower.
Henry Rollins is probably best recognized for being the well-diversified lead singer of musical acts like Black Flag and Rollins Band. Personifying something of a trash talking type of guy you would probably be better off not taking home to your mother, Rollins has been on the music scene for over 30 years. The 50-year-old singer-songwriter is also an actor, comedian and has even lent his time to supporting political causes that are close to his heart.
Be that as it may, not everyone shares the mentality to receive Rollins' sense of rhythmic, comedic or just general sense of style in a positive manner it would seem. A YouTube video - filmed at a Dinosaur Jr. concert located at the Terminal 5 venue in New York City - depicts him innocently discussing music with the band as well as reminiscing about the advent of groups such as Nirvana in the early 1990s.
Then to everybody's surprise - and disgust - one of the concertgoers decided to throw a boot onto the stage in Rollins' direction. The hardcore-punk artist not only retained his composure, but managed to hurl something back at the person. What was given in return was not another object, but a smart-alec comment delivered in a classic quid pro quo sort of fashion.
The choice words Rollins began with were: "Good aim; but they're not my size."
His fans laughed in co ordinance with the response before he included some additional verbal content for the person who chucked the footwear toward him. Rollins went on saying "Sir, later on if you like; you can come and get them back." After more vocalized amusement and cheering was conjured, he wrapped up his statement: "Oh, not now. You're going to have to wait. And you'll be getting them back from me. And now that you know what I look like - and I know what you look like - we'll have a good time.
"I'll be a one man shoe store, and you'll be the besought man in need of shoes. Buddy; I will see you later. I look forward to it." Upon completion of his quick-witted words aimed at the boot-catapulting individual, Henry Rollins resumed what he was doing before the incident occurred. His interview with Dinosaur Jr. carried on as if nothing ever interrupted it to begin with.
