article imageAmy Winehouse booed off stage, cancels tour dates

Belgrade - It's no secret that Amy Winehouse is often surrounded by controversy. Some things never change, and the start of her European "comeback" tour was no different.
It was just last month when Winehouse checked herself back into the Priory Rehab Clinic in London, although the 27-year-old was caught red-handed - with a bottle of Smirnoff.
Speaking on behalf of Amy, a statement issued by her representative, read: "She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors' advice...Her dad sat her down and said 'I think you're drinking too much again.' So she agreed to go [to] an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem."
Her recent performance in Belgrade, Serbia, has indicated that she wasn't ready, having been booed off stage by several of the 20,000 in attendance.
In her first of 12 concerts across Europe, Winehouse was seen stumbling across the stage, throwing her shoes into the crowd and passing responsibilities over to her band members. It was also reported that she arrived an hour late.
As a result, her gigs in Istanbul and Athens have been cancelled, which were both scheduled to take place this week.
Amy's spokesman said: "Despite feeling she wanted to fulfil these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home. She would like to apologise to fans expecting to see her at the shows but feels this is the right thing to do."
