Comic book fans awaiting next summer's release of Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" should expect another familiar face with the latest addition to the film's cast.
Liam Neeson, who starred in 2005's Batman Begins as the antagonistic R'as al Ghul, was seen on set in London and has already filmed a scene, the Pittsburgh Gazette reported.
The extent of Neeson's role in Nolan's third film isn't known yet, but Hit Flix reports Neeson's appearance in the movie may only be a cameo as part of a flashback sequence, especially with Josh Pence confirmed to star in the picture as a younger Ra's al Ghul.
However, the character is known for being virtually immortal and has been resurrected frequently in the source material, although Neeson reportedly had already returned to New York for Tuesday's premiere of Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, MTV news reported.
MTV news reported when Warner Bros. was contacted to confirm Neeson's involvement, they declined to comment as it wasn't company policy to comment on Nolan's Batman films.
The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Josh Pence and Marion Cotillard, is expected to hit theatres July 20, 2012.
