Riyadh - Saudi Arabia's Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud died of undisclosed causes on Friday, June 10. He was 54.
The news of the prince's death was reported by Saudi Arabia's state media. There is no mention as to the cause of his death.
In a statement released by the Saudi Arabian Royal Court, funeral rites were held for the prince at the capital city of Riyadh last Friday after his death. Messages of condolence and sympathy were sent to the King and his family by Sultan Qaboos of the Sultanate of Oman and by the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of the State of Qatar.
Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the eldest son of Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, who became the King of Saudi Arabia on August 1, 2005, following the death of his half-brother King Fahd. The prince served as honorary head to the Jiddah-based football club Al-Ahli as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. He was not line for the crown.
