San Francisco - Multiple lanes of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco are currently closed after a man threatened to jump. The man, who is apparently suicidal, has been up on the bridge for over an hour.
Crisis negotiators are currently on scene trying to talk the man, who is currently unidentified, off the ledge of the bridge.
A witness told local media "We thought he was just going to go to the call box, and then he kept going onto the ledge,"
The man is currently on the suspension portion of the bridge, which is located just past treasure island on the West Bound side.
The California Highway Patrol, and SFFD were on scene by about 3 p.m. local time after receiving the first reports around 2:45 p.m.
According to California Beat, a US Coast Guard boat was also called out to sit under the bridge.
This is at least the second time in the past year that lanes of the bridge were closed due to a threat.
UPDATE June 11, 2011, 04:57:11 PM PDT: According to a CHP spokesman the person in question has been detained and all bridge lanes are now open.
