Tuesday's report on a young woman getting all her Facebook friends profile pictures tattooed on her arm has been discovered to be a fake.
Tuesday Digital Journal reported a woman from the Netherlands getting a tattoo of all 152 friends profile pictures from Facebook on her arm.
Mashable reported the outing Wednesday, explaining that the woman admitted to the tattoo being fake. The artist also revealed it as a hoax, as well.
It was revealed that the tattoo is merely temporary, "...a transfer, that washes off in a couple of days," the tattoo artist said.
The woman wishes to remain anonymous and did not reveal much else about the tattoo and the video.
One Dutch blogger pointed out that it is more than likely a viral video for the company Pretty Social, as the YouTube video can be found at their website and the video also mentioned the company, thanking them for the opportunity.
The website shows that the company can customize anything from shelving to bags in your Facebook friends' faces and is found locally in the Netherlands, where the woman who got the fake tattoo is also from.
Viral advertising, especially when done to look real, is nothing new and can obviously drum up lots of buzz throughout blogs and news sites.
Pretty Social may have gotten the idea from sunglasses company Ray-Ban, which used viral marketing through social media to show a young man getting a pair of the iconic sunglasses tattooed to his face, however, it was never mentioned that the Ray-Ban tattoo was a temporary one. Mashable also reported on this hoax video.
