Earlier this year, Walmart opened a unique, smaller store format on the campus of the University of Arkansas and it was a destination for many shareholders when they came to the area for the annual meeting.
According to
5News, "The first Walmart ever built on a university campus is a smaller version of the supercenters but there's still plenty here. There's food, personal items, school supplies. And even a full pharmacy and a photo center."
The one-of-a-kind Walmart on Campus opened in January as University of Arkansas students returned to campus for the spring semester. The small store was a destination for the
2011 Walmart Shareholders' Meeting shuttle buses. The shareholders' meeting was held last week and many associates and shareholders made their way to the mini-Walmart.

"The new store is about 3,500 square feet of retail space," said
The Consumerist, "and replaces the former campus health center pharmacy."
Here's a look inside the unique store.

"The smallest Walmart store in the world." reports the
Fayetteville Flyer, "is located at the north corner of the Garland Center and is part of the retail shops which line the front of the new parking deck on Garland Avenue."

The store is open from 8:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. seven days a week. Pharmacy hours vary. Walmart on Campus is open not only to UA students, but also to everyone in the community.
Note: The Manager-on-Duty/Pharmacist asked that I not take pictures of the shareholders inside the store.
