Following a hamstring injury suffered in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Ecuador, Dejan Jakovic has been ruled out of Canada’s squad for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Jakovic injured his hamstring in the 39th minute of the international friendly, which took place at Toronto’s BMO Field.
The 25-year-old has since returned to D.C. United where he will be assessed by the club’s medical staff.
Born in Croatia, the MLS defender made his national team debut against Martinique in 2008.
Canada is in group C of the competition, alongside the United States, Guadeloupe and Panama.
The nation is hoping for a repeat of 2000, after defeating Colombia 2-0 to win the trophy.
