Detroit - Feaky Deaky, a novel by Elmore Leonard, is being turned into a film. Brendan Fraser, Matt Dillon, Craig Robinson and William H. Macy are in talks to star in the movie.
The movie will begin being shot on June 27, and will start filming in Detroit. Over the last few years many filmmakers have took interest in the novel. Quentin Tarantino is one of the filmmakers who eyed the novel, according to Deadline.com. The premise posed a problem though, as it is about 60s radicals who become capitalists in the 70s due to their bomb-making skills, and the book was set in the late 80s. A breakthrough happened when Leonard suggested setting it when the radicals made the decision to use their skills to make money, which mean that 1974 would be the year the movie is set in.
Chris Mankowski, played by Dillon, is a Detroit police officer on the bomb squad and is also a Vietnam vet. Skip, played by Fraser, is a former 60s radical who decides to become a Hollywood demolition guy and Macy plays a drunk who is a millionaire who feels threaten by skip and his girlfriend because they say they will blow his mansion up, unless he pays three million dollars. Robinson plays a former member of Black Panther and he just wants a way to cash in.
According to NME, there has been no female lead cast yet, but Sienna Miller is being rumored to land the part.
Leonard has had other work adapted into films. Work that has been adapted into films include "Get Shorty" "Out of Sight," and "Jackie Brown,” according to Freep.com
However, this will be the first adaption of a novel by Leonard that will be completely filmed in Michigan.
