The Quest Academy was previously known as Selsdon High School up until September of last year, however with a new name came a new attitude, and with a new attitude came new rules, regardless of how absurd they may be.
Andy Croft, the school's head teacher, said that he implemented the policy to create a disciplined environment and prevent
bullying.
"Physical contact between students is not allowed at the academy because it is often associated with poor behaviour or bullying and can lead to fighting."
Dayna, a year-10 (10th grade) student, was in shock after receiving a detention for hugging a friend. She said:
"I was just hugging my friend in the morning to say hello and I had to sit on my own and miss out on break because of it. They're trying to turn us into robots."
