Queen of Mean Lisa Lampanelli takes on Westboro Baptist Church

By KJ Mullins     May 21, 2011 in Entertainment
Topeka - Comic Lisa Lampanelli, known as the Queen of Mean, has taken on the Westboro Baptist Church by donating money to Gay Men's Health Crisis for each Westboro protester who turned out at her show.
The Westboro Baptist Church is known for their hateful attacks on funerals and other ceremonies to protest homosexuality in the United States. Lisa Lampanelli is known for being pro-gay rights so it didn't seem strange that the group would target the comedian when she performed in their home town of Topeka, Kansas.
Some may be intimidated by the 'church' who berates victims but not Lampanelli who egged the group on and invited them to come on down. For each member of the church known for hate she pledged to donate $1,000 to an AIDS charity, Gay Men's Health Crisis, that works to prevent, treat and educate about HIV/AIDS.
Come on down they did. The comic counted 44 members meaning a cheque of $44,000 which is a big help to the charity.
Celebs Gather reports:
Lisa Lampanelli stated, "I'd love to see their inbred faces when they open those thank you notes! Hopefully their jaws will drop so fast that their three remaining teeth and cro-magnon foreheads will plummet to the floor."
TMZ reports that after the show Lampanelli tweeted:
"Thanks to these a-holes, $44,000 will be donated to the GMHC!!!"
The donation will be made in the name of Westboro Baptist Church run by Fred Phelps.
