One woman injured in shooting at US Army Base Fort Drum

Fort Drum - A shooting has been reported on Fort Drum near Watertown NY. Information is still being gathered on suspects and victims.

According to Newzjunky.com it has been reported that a woman was shot in the back in Fort Drum in the military housing section. The unidentified woman was shot in the Crescent Woods housing complex on Hickory drive at 6:30pm. Neighborhood houses were evacuated. WWNY 7 News reported that the assailant is a soldier and was at first reluctant to surrender to law enforcement but did so after a short time. He is now in custody. Neither assailant or victim has been identified. There is no indication to the severity of the woman's injuries. Instances of mental health problems, drunk driving, attempted suicides and high divorce rates have plagued the Army and these stresses are no stranger to Fort Drum soldiers who are often deployed overseas.
