Balham - When BBC radio host Nicky Campbell spotted a would-be thief in his garden he ran outside and chased him, even though he was nude at the time.
When his dog Maxwell began barking early Friday morning Campbell, 50, decided to look outside of his South London home.
"I went and had a look and I got up on the loo and looked out of the window, and there was a bloke in the garden trying to steal my bike," the BBC quoted him as saying.
"So I bashed on the window - I was stark naked. He looked up - he was a white guy mid 20s - and I raced downstairs and adrenaline completely took over."
Campbell was completely focused on capturing the intruder.
The Mirror reported that he said he "opened the back door and flew out with Maxwell beside me – my body parts dangling in the wind. I just wanted to get him.”
He said that he never even thought of the fact that the other man might have had a knife.
The intruder quickly went over the fence to escape Campbell and Maxwell.
Writing on Twitter, Campbell later called the dog -a golden Labrador retriever - a hero, and said he had been given two bones.
“Normally he’d lick you to death, but his hackles were up and he was barking away because he’d sensed the danger," The Mirror quoted him as saying.
The day before the incident Campbell hosted a Radio 5 phone-in about burglaries.
