US drones have released a volley of missiles on a compound in the tribal district of North Waziristan in Pakistan. According to officials, suspected militants including Al-Qaeda members are among those targeted.
The attack which happened last Friday came just four days after US Special Forces commandos shot dead Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden . A senior Pakistan security official, who did not want to be named, told AFP: "A compound and a vehicle were targeted by US drones in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan killing eight militants. Eight missiles were fired on the targets located close to each other," he added, "four other suspected militants were wounded."
The area targeted by the drones was Datta Khel, which lies 20 miles west of Miranshah and 280 miles from Abbotabad, where Osama Bin Laden was killed by US military personnel.
