Toronto - Canadians will be soon be able to enjoy a new chapter in digital entertainment, opened by partnership between Samsung Electronics Canada and Canada’s online DVD service Zip.ca.
News Wire Canada reported the announcement of exclusive partnership between Samsung Electronics Canada and Zip.ca that would let users in Canada watch thousands of movies and TV shows by streaming from Zip.ca directly to Samsung’s products: SMART TVs, Blu-ray players, and Home Theatre products.
Samsung Electronics Canada’s head of marketing David Vitale was quoted saying that the partnership reflects the realization of demand for online entertainment and delivering entertainment content with convenience to consumers. The CEO of Zip.ca Scott Richards says that Samsung was their natural choice for this partnership because of the company’s outstanding technology that is in consumer demand.
Currently, Zip.ca has a collection of more than 80,000 DVDs of movies (including Bollywood movies and animated films) and TV shows. As the partnership agreement materializes into active service, Zip.ca members in Canada will be able to watch the entertainment site’s content through a Zip.ca application that is to be made available soon on Samsung's Internet connected TV and Home Theatre products.
There has not been any particular date announced so far for the commencement of the agreed-upon service. In a news post on the same topic, Mediacaster reported yesterday that Scott Richards is unable to specify a date for starting the service because of ongoing negotiations with content developers and broadcasters etc. In the future, Richards says that other devices beside those of Samsung will also be brought into Zip.ca’s content delivery system.
