article imageNBA: Bulls get 86-73 win over Hawks to even the series

Chicago - Game one was owned by the Atlanta Hawks over the number one seed Chicago Bulls but last night the Bulls needed to bounce to even things up. A feisty Hawks team gave them a run for their money.
The Atlanta Hawks (44-38) where back in the United Center for game two of this seven game series with the Chicago Bulls (62-20). The Bulls need a big game to even things up and what better night for Derrick Rose to work his magic. Rose received the Kia’s NBA MVP Award before the start of game two. With his family in the stands it was up to Rose to lead the Bulls to victory.
Atlanta jumped out to a quick 5-2 start with Jeff Teague knocking down a jumper to open the first quarter. Derrick Rose made a running jumper to get the Bulls within one-point 7-6. Rose made a three-point play to give the Bulls an 11-9 lead. Teague made a jumper to tie the game up, but a Joakim Noah tip-in gave the Bulls a two-point lead.
Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford made buckets to give the Hawks a 17-15 lead. Keith Bogans made a three-pointer, and Ronnie Brewer made a jumper to give the Bulls a 20-17 lead. The Bulls finished the quarter with a Derrick Rose 5-0 run that gave them a 25-19 lead.
Jamal Crawford made a three-pointer to open the second quarter to get the Hawks within three-points. C.J. Watson answered with a three-pointer of his own, and Taj Gibson had a dunk to give the Bulls a 30-22 lead. The Hawks got a three-pointer from Jeff Teague, but that only cut the Bulls lead to five.
The Bulls got layups from Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah to take an eight-point, 38-30 lead. Boozer made back-to-back baskets to give the Bulls a ten-point lead, 42-32. Jeff Teague made a layup to cut into the Bulls lead, but Derrick Rose made a layup to push it back to a ten-point lead. Teague made three-point play to make it a 46-37 game. Kyle Korver made a pair of free-throws to end the half with Bulls up 48-37.
Luol Deng made a layup to give the Bulls a 50-37 lead to start the third quarter. The Hawks scored the next six points to cut the Bulls lead to seven-points. Deng made a layup and Keith Bogans made a three-pointer to give the Bulls a 59-45 lead. The Bulls were up 61-50 when they took a timeout.
Joe Johnson made a three-pointer for the Hawks with 1:44 left in the quarter to make it 63-54 in the Bull favor. Derrick Rose made a layup to make it an 11-point lead. Josh Smith and Jeff Teague scored the last four points to cut into the Bulls lead. Smith made a layup and Teague made a pair of free-throws to make it 65-58.
Derrick Rose made a layup to open the final period and dive the Bulls a 67-58 lead. Jeff Teague made a layup to cut into the Bulls lead, but Kyle Korver answered with a three-pointer to make it a 70-60 game. Chicago got a layup from Carlos Boozer to give the Bulls a 13-point lead. Joakim Noah made a layup to give the Bulls a 75-61 lead.

With 6:24 left in the game Jeff Teague made a pair of free-throws to start the Hawks on a 9-2 run. Teague capped off the run with a jumper that cut the Bulls lead to 77-71. Luol Deng made back-to-back layups to make it a ten-point lead and Derrick Rose pushed it to 12-point lead.
Roses’ dunk closed the game out on the Hawks with 1:40 left in the game. Jamal Crawford made a pair of free-throws, but the game was well out of reach. Noah capped off the victory with a dunk.
Jeff Teague scored 21 points to lead the Hawks. He also filled up the stat sheet with two rebounds and blocks with three assists and blocks. Joe Johnson scored 16 points, and Josh Smith scored 13 points with six rebounds and four blocks. Al Horford had 14 rebounds, but only scored six points.
Jamal Crawford came off the bench to score 11 points.
Derrick Rose scored 25 points with 10 assists and six rebounds, but had eight turnovers. Joakim Noah had 19 points with 14 rebounds, and Luol Deng scored 14 points with 12 rebounds. Carlos Boozer had 11 rebounds with eight points.
The Bulls have not split the series at one apiece before the series shift to Atlanta. Game three will be on Friday at 7:00 PM (EST).
