A new billboard in Toledo, Ohio is causing some controversy among area religious communities with it's message of "Being gay is a gift from God."
The billboard has been causing a buzz, especially in the Christian community. Many church teachings and principles believe that homosexuality is a sin.
"We really believe that being gay is a gift from God," Pastor Bill Barnard said. "It's not anything that anyone has to apologize for or be ashamed about. So that's how it came to be."
“We’re expecting a vigorous conversation in this community in many forms,” said Dan Rutt, a member of Central United Methodist’s lead team, to the Toledo Blade
the United Methodist Church has long been debating, generally intensely, whether to allow gay clergy or same-sex marriages. The Church’s Constitution (Book of Discipline), forbids the ordination of homosexuals.
