The Celtics getting a sweep is not common, but in a time when they need to get as much rest as possible they sweep the Knicks. New York have been struggling with injuries and trying to get some team chemistry, but they just ran out of town.
The New York Knicks (42-40) hosted their second playoff game in long time as they faced the Boston Celtics (56-26) for game four. The Knick fans were looking for their team to pull off a team, but the Celtics had other things on their mind. Amare Stoudemire suffered from back spasms, but said he felt good to go last night.
The Celtics took a 6-5 lead off a Kevin Garnett jumper, but the teams began to trade the lead after Toney Douglas made a jumper. The game was tied at 13 points apiece when the Celtics got back-to-back buckets from Rajon Rondo and Glen Davis. Carmelo Anthony made a jumper to get the Knicks within two, 17-15.
The Celtics got a jumper from Paul Pierce that made it 21-15 with 3:51 left in the period. The Knicks kept it close as they got a pair of free-throws to make it 23-20. The Celtics took a five point lead with .57 seconds left, but ended the quarter with a 29-23 lead.
Glen Davis opened the second quarter with a pair of jumpers to give the Celtics a 33-25 lead. The Celtics had Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic make a pair of baskets to push their lead to ten, 37-27. The Knicks could not score as the Celtics pushed their lead bigger with a three-pointer from Ray Allen and a jumper from Delonte West to take a 42-28 lead.
Roger Mason made a three-pointer for the Knicks, but the Celtics responded with a 9-2 run that gave them a 50-33 lead with 2:15 left in the half. The teams traded scores to end the half, but the Celtics ended with the lead 55-38.
Paul Pierce opened the second half with a three-pointer as the Celtics went on a 9-2 run. The Knicks tried to cut into the Celtics lead with Bill Walker and Shawne Williams making three-pointers to make the score 64-48. Boston pushed their lead to 20 points when Rajon Rondo made a layup with 6:22 left.
The Knicks took a timeout with the score 74-54, and had Carmelo Anthony score six straight points out of the timeout to make it 74-60. Roger Mason made a three-pointer for the Knicks as they began to chip away at the Celtics lead getting within ten with a pair of Amare Stoudemire free-throws. Shawne Williams made a three-pointer with .36 seconds left to put the Knicks down by ten going into the final period 82-72.
Carmelo Anthony made a jumper to cut Celtics lead down to six to start the fourth quarter. The Knicks battled back to cut the Celtics lead all the way down to four after jumpers from Amare Stoudemire and Anthony Carter. The Celtics pushed their lead to 91-83 with a Ray Allen three-pointer.

Kevin Garnett pushed their lead all the way back to ten when he made a jumper to make the score 95-85. Garnett scored the next four points for the Celtics to give them a 99-86 lead after a Knicks timeout with .56 seconds left. Carmelo Anthony made a late three-pointer for the Knicks but the game was already over. Ray Allen made a pair of free-throws for the Celtics and they took a shot clock violation to end the game.
The Celtics was led by Kevin Garnett who scored 26 points with 10 rebounds. Rajon Rondo was second with 21 points and 12 assists with five rebounds. Ray Allen had 14 points with five assists and rebounds while Paul Pierce chipped in with 13 points.
Glen Davis came off the bench to score 14 points.
The Knicks got a big game from Carmelo Anthony with 32 points and nine rebounds. Amare Stoudemire scored 19 points 12 rebounds. Anthony Carter came off the bench to score 11 points as these were the only players to score over six points.
Boston will have to wait till the end of this week to see who they play out of the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers.
