Actor James Franco, 33, is reportedly returning to school for a second PhD in Literature and Creative Writing. Franco will be attending the university of Houston next year.
It has been confirmed by the Washington Post that James Franco will be attending the University of Houston Creative Writing program beginning in the fall of 2012. Only 20 applicants are accepted into the program.
On the Red Carpet reports:
"James Franco was scheduled to enter the PhD program in Literature and Creative Writing in Fall 2011, but he requested a deferral for an additional year, which the faculty granted," a University of Houston spokesman told Us Weekly. "So he is now scheduled to begin doctoral work here in fall 2012."
Franco is currently working on his first PhD in English at Yale University. In 2010 he received a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University while also studying film at New York University and Creative Writing at Brooklyn College.
Franco appears to be an educational overachiever. He took 20 to 62 credits a quarter earning his Undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2008 in just two years. To take more than 19 units a quarter students must be approved by academic advising.
This is Franco's second life as a university student. The first time around in 1996 he dropped out to try his hand at the acting life.
