Famous Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage has been arrested in New Orleans, Louisiana, Saturday (April 16, 2011) after Cage exhibited abusive behavior to his wife in a public place.
According to
Reuters, Cage was drunk and was spotted arguing with his wife on a street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Immediately after the argument, Cage was seen grabbing his wife’s arm and pulling her while making his way to a cab.
Cage was interrupted by a police officer who ordered him out of the cab, resulting in Cage yelling at the officers who had approached after being called to the scene by on-lookers. Cage, who clearly appeared intoxicated, was immediately arrested and taken to the Central Lock-Up.
The incident of arrest took place at about 11:30 pm, as reported on
CNN. Cage is said to have started striking vehicles before he attempted to get into the taxi cab where he was arrested. Cage has been charged with domestic abuse, making disturbance in public, and drunkenness in public. Cage’s wife has not received any physical injuries from his handling her physically.
Cage, who won the
Academy Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role for his outstanding performance in
Leaving Las Vegas (1995), was divorced twice before getting married to his current wife Alice Kim in 2004.
