On April 12 at 7 p.m. ET, Digital Journal will host a liveblog covering Canada's first English-only leaders debate ahead of the May election. Canada's top party leaders will debate one-on-one and also field questions from the host.
The leaders will debate on April 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. ET, and will be providing real-time coverage of what's being said and what people are discussing during this important event. Included in the debate will be Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, NDP leader Jack Layton and Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe.
Green Party leader Elizabeth May wasn't invited to this debate but the Vancouver Sun will broadcast a live video chat with May as she reacts to the debate and the questions.
"The two-hour debates will have six segments. Each segment will begin with a question from a Canadian voter. Following the question, there will be a six-minute one-on-one debate between two party leaders. Every segment will be wrapped up with a debate open to all four leaders," Digital Journalist Andrew Moran wrote in a previous article announcing the debate.
Regarding one-on-one discussions between the leaders, the following schedule was released for Tuesday night:
English debate:
1 - S. Harper - G. Duceppe
2 - M. Ignatieff - J. Layton
