Toronto bank complies with robber request

By KJ Mullins     Apr 8, 2011 in Crime
Markham - Crime is sadly a fact of life for many people in Canada. Knowing the best way to respond in certain situations can be a matter of life and death when you are a victim of crime.
That was the case on Wednesday at a bank robbery in the Greater Toronto Area where the teller responded correctly and no one was injured during the crime.
On Wednesday a white male, 25-30, entered the National Bank at 7380 McCowan Road in Markham. He went to a bank employee according to the police report and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled with no injuries coming to anyone at the scene.
The suspect is described as 6' with a thin build. He was wearing grey jogging pants and gloves, a dark-coloured shirt and sunglasses.
How the bank employee reacted was the right thing to do in the case of a robbery. Do not fight back, things can be replaced but your life can not. If it is safe to do so get the best description of your attacker as possible. Report all incidents to the police as quickly as it is safe for you to do so. The police will respond to your calls.
Business owners need to maintain maintain surveillance video equipment and replace tapes often. These tapes can provide police with evidence to capture the criminals. Not only do the tapes work to aid in arrests they help with convictions during the court process.
