The Swiss lobby group Swissnuclear was the scene of a mail bomb Thursday in Olten, Swizterland. Two female employees were injured with minor burns and hearing damage.
According to the Associated Press the device which was opened on the fourth floor's mail room (PDF doc.) used a 9-volt battery and was hidden inside a CD case.
An Italian anarchist group, Informal Anarchist Federation, or FAI, is claiming responsibility for the bombing along with two other bombs at a Greek prison and military barracks in Italy. The bombs at Swissnuclear and the military barracks exploded. Officials at Korydallos prison in Athens were able to defuse the bomb Thursday reports The Associated Press.
A message from FAI was found at the Swiss scene announced a Swiss federal prosecutor on Friday.
Swiss Energy Minister Doris Leuthard put a brake on three new nuclear plants after the earthquake in Japan. She has ordered all current safety standards in practice to be reviewed and if needed revisions will be made.
Forty percent of Switzerland's electricity is made from nuclear energy. On Thursday 50 Greenpeace protesters protested at Alpig headquarters in Olten. Alpig, an energy firm, has an application to build a nuclear plant in the country.
