Famous action star Jackie Chan is the latest victim of celebrity death hoax in Twitter with "RIP Jackie Chan" as one of the most trending topics in the popular social media website.
According to the Toronto Sun, the hoax may have taken root from reports quoted from a source from a Los Angeles hospital that said that the actor died after suffering a heart attack while promoting Kung Fu Panda 2. The bogus report also went on to say that US President Barack Obama gave a personal tribute to the actor, referring to him as "a man who can talk through the talent, [and] is a constant reminder of the power of humanity."
Chan's representatives say that the actor is as healthy as an ox, and is currently busy preparing for a charity initiative for Japan and a new movie.
"Jackie is alive and well," a post in his Facebook page reads. "He did not suffer a heart attack and die, as was reported on many social networking sites and in online news reports."
Chan is the latest of celebrities who have been killed off in an online hoax. Other celebrities include Avril Lavigne, Charlie Sheen, Justin Bieber and Jeff Goldblum.
