A contestant on the BBC's popular cooking programme Masterchef, has accidentally sliced off the top of his middle finger with a potato peeler while filming for tonight's showing of the recorded televised competition.
Kennedy Leitch lost the end of the middle finger of his left hand, the 33-year-old professional cellist said, "It was the middle finger of my left hand, which is the worst hand for a cellist to hurt." Paramedics glued the skin back on his finger following his horrific ordeal, which is due to air on BBC1 tonight at 2100GMT (0200EST).
Contestants on the show, presented by John Torode and Gregg Wallace, were divided into two teams to prepare a mouth-watering meal for 100 sportsmen at the Invercharron Highland Games. Each team creates around 200 dishes from a range of Scottish favourite dishes and ingredients in just two hours.
The winning team members then re-create a four-course delicacy at Skibo Castle, where they have 90 minutes to produce a winning dish designed by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin.
The unfortunate cellist was leading a team of five, working against the clock to cook the dishes in time inside a tent, when he stepped up to help peel 20kg of neeps (turnips) and tatties (potatoes) to accompany a venison dish when the unfortunate incident happened, as reported on Yahoo TV news.
