Miami - The Miami Heat had three players in the All-Star game and got a scare when Dwayne Wade looked like he twisted his ankle in the third quarter. It was no big deal for Wade with him bouncing back to play tonight verse the Kings.
The Miami Heat (42-15) hosted the Sacramento Kings (13-41) for the first time this season. The Kings and Heat met before on the Kings home court with the Heat beating them by 21 points 104-83. There was not much of a difference this game as the Heat beat them this game by 20.
Miami jumped out to an 8-4 lead and they did not look back as they piled on the points for the rest of the quarter. The Kings got within three, but the Heat had a 23 -7 spurt behind the hand of LeBron and Dwayne. The Heat ended the quarter with a 19 point lead with the score 35-16.
The Kings went down by 20 and the Heat never looked back running away with this game early. Miami put up a great game with good pressure on defense and a great offensive game with LeBron scoring 21 points in the first half with a 63-44 lead.
After having a big game in a the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge with 33 points and 14 rebounds, DeMarcus Cousins only finished with eight points and seven rebounds. The higest scorer for the Kings came off the bench from Samuel Dalembert with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The second leading scorers were Jason Thompson and Jermaine Taylor who both scored 13 points. Omir Casspi had 10 points with two other players coming off the bench to score nine points.
LeBron James has a big game scoring 31 points with eight rebounds. Dwayne Wade scored 23 points with eight rebounds and seven assists. Chris Bosh had 22 points and nine rebounds with Mario Chalmers adding 14 points.
Eddie House had 10 points and newly crowned 3-point contest winner James Jones chipped in with 9 points going 3-5 from the arc.
James hit two 3-ponters to open the third quarter and Wade hit a 3-pointer also to push make the score 82-53 with 7:05 left in the period. The scoring never slowed down for the Heat as they scored a team total of 30 points in the period to the Kings 26.
The Heat pushed the lead to 27 points on a 3-pointer by Jones making the score 89-62. Sacramento got the lead down to 23, but could not get any closer as the quarter finished with a 93-70 lead.
Sacramento already was out of the game but the Heat kept their starters in the game for almost half the quarter with Wade not going out until 4:30 mark. Just seconds before Wade went out he tripped over Cousins and threw in a circus over the head shoot to get a 3-point play. The lead was 26 points but the Kings made an effort to finish the game only losing by 20.
LeBron James scored 21 points in the first half, and the Heat is 7-0 in games in which James scores 20 or more first half points.
Miami will face the Chicago Bulls tomorrow on Feb. 24 in Chicago for a showdown of the number two and three teams in the East.
