Chandler - A Chandler Arizona man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for putting his son in a freezer for a temporary period of time while high on methamphetamines.
Chance Kracke a 24 year old man said that he placed the boy on the lower shelf for a few minutes because the floor was to dirty. The 7 month old baby is said to have suffered a head laceration most likely due to closing the freezer door.
Reuters reports: “His son emerged with a laceration and a lump on his forehead, possibly from his head hitting the door, police said. Kracke told police the child had been in the freezer for a "minute or two." Police were called to the home after a call from the grandmother, who was worried about the size of the lump on the boy's forehead, according to polices.”
Kracke says that he removed the boy from the freezer when he heard him crying. In addition to jail time he and his wife Leanne were sentenced to lifetime probation.
The Tucsoncitizen reports: “Officials who visited Kracke’s home said it was dirty and dangerous for children. The couple also has a 19 month old daughter. Kracke’s wife Leann was sentenced to lifetime probation for child abuse in the case.”
