Toronto - A Toronto constable has been arrested and charged with assaulting a woman during the G20. The officer is now on administation duty according to Toronto Police spokesman Mark Pugash.
It has been alleged that Constable Andalib−Goortani assaulted a woman in the area of Queen's Park on June 26, 2010 by hitting her with his baton. An investigation began on the case on Friday, January 21, 2011 by the Office of the Independent Police Review Director after a complaint was made.
On Tuesday Constable Babak Andalib−Goortani, 30, was arrested for assault with a weapon. He is assigned to 31 Division and has been with the Toronto Police Service for three years.
Constable Andalib−Goortani is scheduled to appear in court on March 7.
