article imageFacebook's Zuckerberg appears with 'Zuckerberg' on SNL

It was on the Saturday Night Live stage that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg met "Mark Zuckerberg" from "The Social Network." Zuckerberg and actor Jesse Eisenberg teamed-up to provide SNL's opening monologue.
Prior to the Jan. 29 episode of Saturday Night Live, rumours were swirling that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg would appear alongside Jesse Eisenberg, the actor who played Zuckerberg in the movie "The Social Network."
The rumours were put to rest when Zuckerberg joined Eisenberg during the opening monologue of SNL.
According to CNN, "The two said they had never met before, and engaged in some awkward banter played to full comic relief."
Part of the banter included this exchange:
"Then Eisenberg asked: "You ever end up seeing the film 'The Social Network'?"
"Yeah, I did," replied Zuckerberg.
"Cool. Thanks. And what did you think?"
"It was interesting," Zuckerberg replied.
"Interesting? You know, I'll take it."
Zuckerberg introduced the musical guest, Nicky Minaj, which was followed by Zuckerberg and Eisenberg shaking hands and exchanging a seemingly awkward man-hug.
The hug they exchanged at the conclusion of the show, however, appeared to be genuine suggesting that the two had "friended" each other.
CBS News noted the following, "Well, if this Facebook thing doesn't work out, Mark Zuckerberg can always give it a shot in show biz. Last fall, Facebook's co-founder and chief exec did some fairly funny voice-over work for a segment of 'The Simpsons;' tonight he appeared for a cameo on NBC's 'Saturday Night Live.'"
But, as Eisenberg mentioned in his dialogue with Andy Samberg, who was playing the role of Zuckerberg, "Wasn't Facebook just valued at like $50 billion?" The worldwide gross of "The Social Network" has been reported to be only $208,775,904.
It is likely then that Zuckerberg will keep his day job as will Jesse Eisenberg who has been nominated for a "Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role" Oscar for his performance as Zuckerberg in "The Social Network."
