Toronto - On Wednesday morning at 5:12 a.m. Toronto Police were called to the Pioneer gas station at 198 Brown's Line in the west end to investigate an armed robbery.
According to police reports a male suspect entered the store while a female suspect waited in a car parked in front to the gas station. The man approached the counter where he pointed a gun at the attendant demanding money. The suspect left the scene in the waiting car. a partial licence plate was recorded at the scene.
At 11:55 a.m. the police discovered the vehicle used in the armed robbery on Shaw Street in the downtown core. Two men and a woman were exiting the car when officers approached ready to make an arrest. The woman fled on foot and was arrested a short distance away. The two men drove off at a high rate of speed, going the wrong way on Richmond Street West.
The vehicle collided with another car head-on. The driver of the other car attempted to prevent the men from leaving the scene on foot. One of the men pulled out a handgun, firing two shots into the ground before both men fled the area before police arrived.
A search of the area resulted in the arrest of both men and seizure of a loaded handgun.
One of the men, 33, was released with no pending charges after further investigation.
Christopher Donnelly, 30, of Burlington has been charged with possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, discharging a firearm endangering life, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order, possession of a firearm with serial number altered, dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident and robbery while armed with a firearm.
Ashley Burt, 26, of Toronto has been charged with possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
