German star dies after sixth breast enhancement, doctors charged

Hamburg - A German reality and porn star, known as Sexy Cora, died while in a coma following her sixth breast enhancement operation, and two doctors have been charged with negligent manslaughter.

Cora (Carolin) Berger, 23, had become a celebrity through sex films before taking part in the German Big Brother show. Bild reported that the actress suffered cardiac arrest, which appeared to go unnoticed by the surgeon and anesthesiologist, during the surgery. BBC News reported that she was placed in a coma on 11 January because of serious complications resulting from surgery. She died on January 20. Wilhelm Moellers, spokesman for the Hamburg state prosecutor, said that doctors who responded to an emergency call at the clinic made the call to police which resulted in charges being laid against doctors at the clinic. "Erroneous behaviour by the doctors is unproven and at this point just an 'assessment' by one of the emergency medical personnel who'd brought Ms. W (Wosnitza was her married name) to the University Clinic Hamburg," CNN quoted him as saying. "Why the emergency doctor only appeared 20 to 25 minutes after the alarm was called is currently being checked." The clinic released a statement saying that a defect in the anesthetizing device could be ruled out. "The claim that the monitoring could have given readings other than the actual vital functions of the patient has nothing to do with the facts and has no connection to reality,” the statement read, according to CNN. Bergen had wanted to increase the size of her silicone breast implants from 500g (18oz) to 800g (28oz) each, reported Bild. The exact cause of death is not clear and an autopsy will take place next week.
