Bradenton - A Florida man was arrested on robbery charges in West Bradenton after his wife saw a photo of him, captured on a bank surveillance video, on the evening news. After seeing the news segment the woman called local police.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has reported a woman called the police department and identified herself as Afra Sandifar. She told police her husband, Troy Sandifar, was the suspect seen in the First Bank surveillance photographs that had been broadcast moments on the nightly news in a report on a recent bank robbery.
Mrs. Sandifar told the Bradenton news she recognized her husband on the video while they were watching the news together, “I said, ‘Honey, you’re on the news for robbing a bank,” she recalled. “He said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Look,’ pointing at the TV.”
That's when 45-year-old Troy Sandifar allegedly retrieved an unknown amount of money from his living-room and fled the couple's apartment, the Sheriff's Office says in a statement.
Sandifar was spotted by Manatee County Deputies a few blocks away from his home and was pulled over by officers in a felony traffic stop. The reports said he locked himself in the vehicle and refused to follow commands by deputies to exit the vehicle. Deputies gained entry and Sandifar was placed under arrest, according to the Sheriff's department.
Bradenton.com cites an additional report from the Sheriff's office claiming Sandifar allegedly "ingested rock cocaine" as he sat in the driver seat of the locked car before being taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital
The Bradenton Sheriff's office says Sandifar gave a full confession to detectives who questioned him at the hospital. He was treated, released and he is now being held at the Manatee County jail without bond.
